Hamlin Park/SPU

Status
As of May 2008
Phase: Acquisition Complete

The 8.3 acre property acquisition was completed in mid-November 2007. The property is now officially part of Hamlin Park, making the park 80 acres in size.

Overview & History
In May 2006, Shoreline voters approved a bond issue to acquire park property and improve parks throughout the community.  One element of that bond was to acquire the “Hamlin/SPU” property owned by Seattle Public Utility to preserve as an urban forest.

Two factors contribute to the value of this undeveloped acreage: its natural state is rare in Shoreline and it is adjacent to the 72.12-acre Hamlin Park, which is classified as a “Large Urban Forest.”
