Shoreline Hazard Mitigation Plan
Disasters exact a heavy toll on communities, destroying life, property, critical infrastructure and natural systems, and disrupting local economies. However, careful, long-term planning that considers hazards risk can reduce the loss and increase a community’s resilience when a disaster occurs.
The City of Shoreline Hazard Mitigation Plan provides strategies to create a resilient and sustainable community in the face of disaster. This plan covers eight hazards assessed in the City of Shoreline Hazard Inventory and Vulnerability Assessment: earthquake, hazardous materials, severe weather, landslides and sinkholes, flooding, wildland fires, volcano and tsunami.
The City of Shoreline’s Hazard Mitigation Plan was adopted by the City Council on April 12, 2004, and is designed to meet the requirements of federal Public Law 106-390, The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000.
